Today was amazing. Lauren and I woke up late as we often do on Saturdays, but this time I woke up a little earlier than her and rushed to the kitchen to make her something for breakfast. Being as I am a spazz, I couldn’t just make pancakes, I looked at the back of the box of Ralphs Baking Mix and there it was staring me in the face like those stickers with the dogs that have the big noses and sad eyes… Pecan Coffee Cake. So I went at it chopping apples as loud as I could and measuring out all the ingredients. I went to the room and alerted lauren that we’d probably end up eating Bagel Brokers like most Saturday mornings, but that I was working on something new. The coffee cake ended up being a lot better than expected, even though I was missing cinnamon and substituted a few almonds that were in the bottom of the drawer for what was supposed to be a lot more pecans.
Then it was off for a nice drive down Sunset to the PCH and the short jaunt to Topanga Canyon. We visited the secret little shop in the canyon called “Hidden Treasures,” and went across the street for some mexican food & a couple (4) Dos Equis Amber beers on draft.
Now we’re home. relaxing. I’m going to go get popcorn from the Regency theatre, and then we’ll watch a movie.
